This decline was lower than that of 2010 which was -2% following the 1 January
2010 official ban on smoking in public places. Prices of tobacco products
remained unchanged with very few exceptions. Most manufacturers were aware that
the market is declining in volume terms as a result of more smokers quitting
because of increased health awareness and growing anti-smoking attitude.
